From the “What Was She Thinking” Department

Michigan judge shames a cancer patient too weak to keep up with weeds on his property. The poor guy, struggling to breathe, appeared at a Zoom hearing (so that we all get to see it – yea!) where the judge berated Burhan Chowdhury for failing to control the weeds in the alley. His son, who appeared with him at the hearing, told the judge that he usually helped his ailing father with the yard work, but he had been out of the country for three months. Judge Alexis G. Krot of the 31st District Court chastised Chowdhury.

“You should be ashamed of yourself!” said the judge. “If I could give you jail time on this, I would.”

The son reported at the hearing that he had already cleared the property. The judge would have none of that, and fined Chowdhury $100, which the son paid. I bet if they had just waited until the video hit the internet, they would have had hundreds of offers to pay the fine and maintain the property.

Not surprisingly, the video has gone viral. Here is a the link.
